An INTEGRATED unit to SAVE YOU Time!
Big Idea: Our beautiful Island home… Australia. Exploring. Caring. Sharing.
This tried & tested Integrated unit (taught to a 1/2 class in 2017, 2018 and revamped for 2026!) is packed with 25+ engaging, interesting and educational lessons all about Australia for Years 1 and/or 2 (Could use for Year 3 too!) You could choose to teach multiple lessons each week, stretch across a whole semester OR block teach in sections.. it’s super flexible.
Each lesson features PowerPoint/presentation slides, images and videos to engage children. Lessons also provide questions, class discussion prompts and learning tasks built inside the slides, so you can literally teach STRAIGHT FROM THE BOARD!
Oh, did I mention it comes with the worksheets for learning tasks too? Got you covered for everything so you can download, print what you need and roll into class prepared.
I threw in some ‘optional’ learning tasks too, a few lessons I’ve taught that were SUPER fun, but with the learning intentions already covered … these are BONUS learning!
Australia V9 Curriculum strands covered:
HASS (Geography strand) All about Australia, Australian states and their features, natural/managed & constructed features of the environment, questioning/observations and discussions of findings,
English: Multiple opportunities to create Informative Texts, Recount writing and Procedure Writing,
Mathematics: Data Collection (collecting, representing and inferring)
Religion: Explores the Creation Story (Based on the Crossways Curriculum)
Visual Arts: A multi-process (but very simple!) artwork, images for the creation of English texts, Aboriginal & Torres Straight Islander response creations

This unit also incorporates the cross-curricular priorities of Aboriginal & Torres Straight Islander Histories & Cultures as well as Sustainability.
A unit of work I have taught multiple times and children genuinely enjoy!
